Midweek Randomness: Daddy Daughter Dance, McDonald's, and a dollar store

Near the end of the school year, my children's school threw their very first Daddy Daughter Dance.  It was the sweetest thing ever.  The dance was Candyland themed and all the decorations were candy. They had gumdrop lights, giant Sugar Daddy props, Christmas trees decorated with colorful candy, and much more. The girls even got to win prizes of candy decorated cakes, cookies, and cupcakes.  I donated a Bubble Gum Cake, but that is blog post for another day.

The dance got rave reviews from both Daddies and Daughters!

Can they get any sweeter?!

The same night, the school threw a Mommy Son event.  The event was at Chick Fil A and the theme was teaching etiquette for little boys.  The Mommies and Sons would have to dress up,  the boys would give their Mom flowers, hold the doors for her, pull out her chair, etc.  I decided to skip this option and let RJ choose what he wanted to do, himself.  I felt like since the Daddy Daughter Dance was focused completely on the girls, I wanted to do something that focused completely on RJ.

I let him choose the activities for the night.  He requested dinner at McDonald's and bowling afterwards.

On the way to McDonald's, I could tell he was tired.  In the middle of our dinner, he told me he didn't want to go bowling anymore.  He just wanted to go home and watch a movie.  I asked him if it was ok to stop at the dollar store to buy some decorations for our neighborhood's 4th of July bike parade.  He was ok with that, then we went home and snuggled up on the couch for a movie.  It turned out to be a great evening for all four of us and I can't wait to do it again next year.
