We met the The World's Toughest Trucker!! If you've ever seen the series on the Discovery Channel, then you know what I'm talking about. The coolest thing about all of this, is that The World's Toughest Trucker has been a pen pal, of sorts, to our kids.
My husband deployed last year to the Middle East. One of the guys he went with is friends with Bill "LA Rookie" Weekly. Rookie was told that our little boy is obsessed with trucks, so Rookie started sending him truck magazines (complete with truck centerfolds!!), posters, calendars, and an autographed picture. Grace has even received a few goodies, too. This went on the entire time my husband was deployed. Well last week Ms. Kay, Rookie's girlfriend, sent me a text to tell me that Rookie was going to be at the 75 Chrome Shop Truck Show in Wildwood. We wanted to meet Rookie and, of course, RJ wanted to see Rookie's truck.
We arrived at the show and we were all impressed with the trucks on display. I really liked seeing the camaraderie among the trucking community. Everyone knew each other and all the truckers were super friendly.
Our little family enjoyed meeting and hanging out with Rookie. He bought Grace and RJ each an ice cream cone, Grace a t-shirt, and RJ a hat. Rookie, you went above and beyond and we thank you!!
I also want to say thank you to the folks at Diesel Life. You saw that my husband was in the military, you thanked him for his service, and you gave him a t-shirt in appreciation. That small gesture meant a lot to me. I have always had an appreciation for our military members, but I had NO IDEA the true sacrifice they and their families make for our country. Your thank you went a long way. Plus, the shirt you gave my husband is pretty damn cool! I'm sorry I didn't take any photos of your booth. I promise to next year.
Rookie's truck.
Checking out all the big rigs.
I loved the patriotism among the crowd.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, ROOKIE!!!
You made our kids feel so special. All of us really did have a good time.
We hope to see you again, soon.
Keep on truckin'...
PS...this is what RJ was doing while we were watching The World's Toughest Trucker.
